"Alex, the GREATest" Ernest Alexander Olah, AKA "Grampa Duck"'s Story
"Alex, the GREATest" Ernest Alexander Olah, AKA "Grampa Duck," 81, of Windsor, surrendered his life into the Arms of Jesus Saturday February 17, 2018, and was welcomed into Heaven by His Loved Ones. He was born April 12, 1936, Easter Morning, in Bedford, Ohio, to the late Joseph Paul and Elizabeth (Merk) Olah. He graduated from New Lyme Deming School as a superior athlete. After High School he married Janet and was drafted into the US Army, in Fort Hood with Elvis Presley, and golfed with officers. He returned to work for Chardon Rubber, and then retired from Copperweld Steel in Champion, Ohio.
Alex married his wife Trudy E. (Sklenar) "Gramma Duck" Olah, April 1, 1977. He went and walked through Collage KSU. For 30 years he has been known as Grandpa Duck with "Have Ducks * Will Travel"; entertaining many churches, nursing homes, business establishments, county fairs, small town festivals; from Dick Goddard's Wooley Bear Festival in Vermilion, Ohio, to Ducks Unlimited in PA, with Goldie and Salty Quakers wanting to have people thirsty for JESUS. He spent his last months in Blossom and Briar Hill Nursing homes with his wife, Trudy, Gramma Duck beside him.
He is survived by his loving wife; sons, Eric (Becky T.) Olah, Brian (Patty) Olah; daughter, Janal (and her loved ones) Trypus, who is caring for her mother and step-father, Janet and Bill Hill; his grandchildren, Kody, Tyler, Kandi, Kacey Olah, Alicia McCoy, Jacob, Jocelyn; siblings, Joseph, Steve, Carl, Paul Olah, Betty Hamilton, their families; and the many daughters in the LORD with thousands of grandchildren across America because of his Ministry as Grampa Duck.
A Celebration of his life will be held 11:00 AM Friday, February 23, 2018 at Abundant Life Church of God, 14662 Old State Rd, Middlefield, OH 44062, with Pastor Mike Continenza officiating. Calling hours will be held from 9:00 until the time of the service. Burial will follow the service at Windsor Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be given to Abundant Life Church of God. Condolences and memories can be shared with the family at www.russellslyfh.com. Russell-Sly Family Funeral Home assisted the family with his arrangements.
