Anthony's Story

Anthony Michael Angelo, age 81, of Ashtabula, died Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at the Cleveland Clinic. He was born in Conneaut, OH on October 27, 1935. The son of the late Dominic and Mary (Morano) Angelo. He attended Conneaut Schools and joined the Army National Guard as a tank driver from 1956-1959. He went on to work for the railroad for over 32 years, where he was a brakeman for Nickel Plate, New York Central, Penn Central and Conrail Railroads. In 1971 he purchased City Taxi Cab & Transfer Co. Then in 2006 he started Black Eagle Moving Company and operated both until death. From 1988-2003 he managed Ashtabula County Transportation System (ACTS). Survivors include his daughters, Kelly Schoenfeld of Painesville, OH; Karen (Todd) Bruckman of Kingsville, OH; and Kym Rock of Madison, OH. Former wife of 21 years Ruth (Simak) Dratwa of Mentor, OH. Grandchildren Joel (Susie) Swedenborg of Willoughby, OH; Shea (Mike) Swedenborg of Chardon, OH; Cortney (Mark) Fischer of Mentor, OH; Kyle Bruckman of Kingsville, OH; Ashley Rock of Youngstown, OH; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother Eugene Morano and sisters Victoria Peak and Patricia Brasch. The family would like to thank his wonderful caregivers. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 31, from Noon till 1:30, Funeral service starting at 1:30 at Guerriero Funeral Home, 1550 West 19th St. Ashtabula, OH.
