Aurelio's Story

Text size

Aurelio "Rel" DeAngelis of Geneva, Ohio passed away on Monday, July 31st after a brief illness. He was born Sept 25, 1932 in Cleveland to Salvatore & Brigida DeAngelis. The family moved to Geneva when he was 15, to a grape farm, where his present house still sits. After serving in the Navy as a flight mechanic, Rel came back to the family farm, to continue raising grapes which he sold to Welch's. He married Mabel Aukerman June 1, 1963. He quickly was outnumbered with three daughters. Rel was a member of the Harpersfield Volunteer Fire Department, a role he enjoyed for many years. He kept in contact with his friends from his youth, known to everyone as The Brewery Boys. He worked for the Harpersfield Township before moving to Lubrizol in Wickliffe, where he worked at the road simulator. When he wasn't farming or working, he indulged Mabel and the girls with their activities, and thus his involvement with Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and horses, just to name a few. While Rel was a quiet man, his love for his siblings, his family and his life were evident in the stories he told.
Rel is survived by daughters Debbie DeAngelis of Warren, Anna (Mike) Geis of Delta, and Renee Noaker of Geneva; grandchildren Allyson, Megan and Ashley Pierson; Aubrey, Michael and Bradley Geis; Keith Noaker; great grandchildren Weston and Kisa; brother Antonio DeAngelis, sisters Mary Montgomery and Barbara Sabelli. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, sister Louise Aponte and brother Frank DeAngelis. The memorial service will be held Sunday, August 13 at 4:00pm, at the Harpersfield Community Hall. In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made to the Harpersfield Fire Dept. Online condolences may be viewed at nevillefuneral.com
