Betty Jean (Pananen) Alley, age 81, of Ashtabula, passed away Saturday, December 30, 2017, at Hospice of the Western Reserve in Cleveland, Ohio. Born November 29, 1936 in Ashtabula, she was the daughter of Donald and Marleah (Walkley) Pananen. Betty was an Ashtabula resident her entire life and married David Alley on December 21, 1954. They enjoyed 51 years of marriage until David passed away in 2008.
Betty worked at several local businesses during her life: Rockwell, Jefferson Geriatrics, Ashtabula General Hospital, Tupperware, and her favorite by far, as activity director at Broadview Manor in Madison, Ohio. Betty was a member of the First Community Church of God. She loved attending Bible studies and sharing the love of Jesus Christ. At Ridgeview Terrace, Betty enjoyed calling Bingo, playing Bunco, and having coffee with all her friends at the morning get together.
She is survived by her daughters, Rosalee (Roger) Walters, Leota (Tom) Burkey, and Susan (Kenny) Lodwick; seven grandchildren, Chris, David, Benny, Danny, Benjamin, Andy, and Cathy; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; brothers, Kenny, Jimmy, and Ron; and sister, Barb.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, David.
Calling hours are 10-11:30 a.m. with funeral services to follow directly after, Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at the First Community Church of God, 1910 S. Ridge West (Route 84) Ashtabula, with pastor Hal Morgan officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial contributions to the First Community Church of God.
