Charles Moore, age 76, joined his beloved wife Carol on Monday, May 8, 2017, while a patient at Ashtabula County Medical Center.
The son of Gilver and Etta (Hamilton) Moore, Charles was born on August 27, 1940, in Floyd County, Ky. As a young man Charles and his family moved to the Ashtabula area, where he remained a lifelong resident.
On February 15, 1958, Charles was united in marriage to Carol Monda in Ashtabula and together they shared 59 years of love and memories; before her death on March 15, 2017.
Charles was a valuable employee of Matlack Trucking for thirty years prior to his retirement.
Charles enjoyed hunting, a good game of horseshoes, gardening and sharing the bounty of his garden with family and friends, and cheering on the Cleveland Indians.
He liked to go "deer scoping" with his son-in-law, John, those long rides in the truck made life pleasurable. Charles enjoyed a good game of cards and "hanging with the guys" whenever he could.
Charles was a wonderful son, brother, husband, dad, and Popi, he was the rock for his family.
Charles will be remembered for his quick wit, his wonderful sense of humor and his strong love of family and friends.
Charles is survived by his beloved daughter, Debby (John) Stitt; grandchildren, Jessica (John-Michael) Scott, Jenifer Stitt, and Tyler (Amber Nash) Stitt; great-grandchildren, Farrell, Lex, Paislee, and Elia Scott and Ryleigh Stitt; siblings, Gerlie DeGeorge of Ashtabula, Jimmie (Kathy) Moore of Conneaut, Shirley (Eugene) Platano, Linda Gray, P. Sue (Philip) Drone, and Randy Moore, also of Ashtabula; many loving nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2017, at the ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula.
Calling Hours will be held Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of Service at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Ashtabula.
