Claude Thomas Tom Greenwood, Jr. 68, of North Canton, OH, formerly of Ashtabula and Conneaut, OH, passed away Monday, July 10, 2017, at Akron City Hospital. He was born February 27, 1949, in Terra Haute, IN, and was the son of Claude T. Greenwood, Sr. and Elizabeth M. (McCammon) Greenwood. Tom was a 1966 graduate of Conneaut High School and earned his B.B.A. in Accounting from Cleveland State, and taught accounting at Kent State Ashtabula Campus from 1974-1989. He also attended Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terra Haute, IN. Tom played football in high school and at Rose-Hulman. Over the years Tom was employed as Accounting Supervisor at True Temper Corp., Plant Controller at Smith & Wesson, Financial Operations Officer at Carlisle Retailers, Credit Manager/Commercial Loan Officer at Ameritrust Company, Vice President and Treasurer of Iten Industries, and Division Controller of Spang Power & Electronics. Tom was a former member of Ashtabula First United Methodist Church where he sang tenor in the choir, and Uniontown (OH) United Methodist Church. He was a Corvette enthusiast for many years, and enjoyed sailing out the Ashtabula Yacht Club and playing blackjack. He was also an avid Cleveland sports fan. Survivors include his wife Judy (Remaley) Greenwood whom he married April 10, 1970, in North Kingsville, OH; two daughters Sheri Eichorn of North Canton, OH, and Cathi Greenwood (John Campbell) of Olympia, WA; three sisters, Susan Thomson of Palm Coast, FL, Peggy Welch of Lexington, KY, and Patti Harpole of Daytona, FL; his brother Raymond Greenwood (John Kuchta) of Redwood City, CA; his grandson Ian Eichorn of North Canton, OH; and several nieces, nephews, and more distant relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Robert Greenwood. Visitation will be at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, OH from 2 to 4 PM Friday, July 14, 2017, with funeral service at 4:00 PM, with Rev. John Graham, former pastor of North Kingsville Presbyterian Church, officiating. A time of fellowship and refreshments will follow at the Marcy Family Center, 180 Harbor St., Conneaut, OH. Additional memorial service will be Saturday, July 15, 2017, at 6:30 PM at the Uniontown United Methodist Church, 13370 Cleveland Ave. NW, with Rev. James P. Nolte officiating. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Akron Canton Kidney Center, 1575 Corporate Woods Pkwy, #100, Uniontown, OH, 44685, to be used for chairs and blood pressure cuffs in memory of Tom.
