Cody's Story

Text size

Cody Abram Urch, age 26, born on Dec. 21, 1990, passed away Thursday, April 20th, 2017, from a fentanyl overdose.
It is our hope that you do not commit to memory how Cody died, but rather how he lived.
It is important to us that Cody be remembered as an energetic boy who loved animals, skateboarding, jumping on the trampoline, and fighting with his brother and sisters as most siblings do.
As he grew, we found that there could never be time spent without laughing, whether it was from his sound effects, funny antics, dry remarks, or general sense of humor. Even when his own heart ached, Cody could make you laugh.
Cody lived as a passionate person. He was a loving and loyal son, brother, friend and father. He deeply loved Ashley and his son, Jonny. Cody understood unconditional love.
We grieve the image he had for his future. His dream was "the white picket fence" with his family. Nothing extravagant or fancy, just something he could provide for them and he could call his own. He believed it was possible, and was just hours from entering rehab and redirecting his life.
Cody is not just another statistic, he is our son, and always will be. He had a great heart, a sincere love for others, and he can never be replaced. We will always remember Cody and who he really was, and we hope that you will do the same.
He leaves behind his beloved son, Jonathon Urch; his special someone, Ashley Francis; parents, Duane and Jenny Urch; brother, Matt Urch; sisters, Nicole and Tracy Urch, and Elaine (Duane) Runnion; grandmother, Gloria Funke; and many cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Bob Clutter, James Funke, and Duane Urch Sr.; grandmother Patricia D. Urch; and his uncle, Ron Clutter.
