Denzil Ray Carr Denzil Ray Carr, 83 of Mesopotamia, passed away peacefully Monday, March 11, 2019 at his home with his family by his side. He was born on September 8, 1935 in Shinnston, WV, son of the late Hursey Ray and Lena Vivian (Cain) Carr. He was a proud U.S. Army Veteran who served in the Korean war 1952-1956 as Specialist Third Class. He received the National Defense Medal, Ambassador of Peace Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and the Military Service Cross. Denzil married Mary Ann Stutzman and lived in Mesopotamia and Windsor area over 26 years. He was an excavator for SiteWork, where he helped pour the concrete and build Geauga Lake Park. Denzil retired from Ohio Laborers Union in 2001. He enjoyed the outdoors and camping but most of all being with his family and friends, who will miss him dearly.

Denzil is survived by his beloved wife Mary Ann Carr of 51 years, three loving daughters, Julie Carr, Theresa (Dan) Slusher, and Sherri Carr, seven grandchildren, Jessica (Solomon) Nester, Jeff Utz, Samantha Utz, Melissa Slusher, Randy Lupold Jr, Jeffery Harris, and LeeAnn Harris, and five great grandchildren, Oliver and Sebastian Nester; Warren, Jason, and Sahara Lupold. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Gerald Carr.

Calling hours will be held from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at Sly Family Funeral Home, 15670 W. High St, Middlefield, OH. 44062, Saturday, March 16, 2019 where a Celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 PM. Memories and condolences can be shared with the family at www.slyffh.com
