Elaine Surma, of Aurora, Colorado, and formerly of Conneaut, Ohio, died November 29th, 2017 at a hospice center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born September 26th, 1923, to Harry and Grace Scott in Platea, Pennsylvania.
On February 20th, 1943, she wed Leonard Surma in Walker County, Georgia.
Elaine was the school secretary for many years at Southeast Elementary School in Conneaut. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo and proclaimed that her longevity was due to her daily walks which continued until the week of her demise. She was an adventurous spirit who moved to Colorado when in her eighties.
Elaine is survived by her son Ron Surma of Aurora, CO; daughter Debbie Flim (spouse Duane) of Manitowoc, WI; former daughter-in-law and primary caregiver Angie Surma of Aurora, CO; granddaughter Sheryl Ayala (spouse Tony) of Colorado Springs, CO; grandson Mark Surma (spouse Aom) of Middle River, MD; great-grandsons Anthony Allen of Colorado Springs, CO, and Kyden Surma of Middle River, MD; and great-great-grandson Adrien Allen of Las Vegas, NM. She is also survived by siblings Norma Hanisek, Dale Scott and Nancy Kershaw, as well as other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard.
Elaine was fortunate to have had the opportunity to meet her youngest great-grandson Kyden only a few weeks before her death.
At Elaine's request her body has been donated to science and no services will be held.
"I have passed the mountain peak and my soul is soaring in the firmament of complete and unbounded freedom. I am in comfort; I am in peace."
