ASHTABULA - Elmer L. "Spike" Carlisle, Jr., 77, died unexpectedly on Sunday, September 24, 2017 at his home.
The son of Elmer and Dorothy (Ecklund) Carlisle, Sr., Elmer was born on March 15, 1940 in Ashtabula; and was a graduate of Ashtabula High School. He served in the United States Army from 1959 to 1961 and was proud to have served his country.
Elmer retired from RMI after many years of dedicated service.
Elmer and Carol Cottom were married fifty-five years; creating many memories along the way.
Elmer was an Indians fanatic; he also watched Browns. A Mr.-Fix-it, he would spend hours in the garage tinkering and helping other people with their projects. There was nothing he could not accomplish. Elmer loved old westerns. A day trip to the casino was always an adventure for him and Carol.
Elmer will be remembered as a wonderful husband, dad, and granddad; he remained strong through adversity and continued to live his life on his terms.
Elmer is survived by his loving wife, Carol; his children, Christine (Clifton) Frasure, Dennis (Connie) Carlisle, Tammy Carlisle, Ron Carlisle all of Ashtabula, and Dawn Carlisle of Wooster; seventeen beloved grandchildren; fifteen precious great-grandchildren; his three sisters, and their families.
Elmer was preceded in death by his son, Elmer L. Carlisle, III in 1991; granddaughter, Baby Carlisle and his parents.
A Memorial Service will be held from 1Pm until 4PM on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at the American Legion #103 Dewy Howlett Post, Carpenter Road, Ashtabula, Ohio, 44004
