Fedora's Story

Fedora Marie Stenger, 85, passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2017, while a resident of Ashtabula County Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Born January 23, 1932, in North Bergen, New Jersey, Fedora is the daughter of Peter and Gilda (Leoncavallo) Manfredi.
Fedora received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Ursuline College and was one of the first women research chemists at NASA Lewis Research Center, now John Glenn Research Facility. She was also employed with Detrex Chemical from 1982 until 1997 as an industrial chemist.
On September 16, 1961, Fedora and Francis Stenger were married; for fifty- six years they journeyed through life together, supporting and encouraging each other and their children. The many memories that were created on this journey of life are forever treasured.
After moving from Fairview Park in 1970, Fedora joined Our Lady of Peace Parish, St. Joseph's Church where she was active in the choir, and taught CCD at St. Andrews Parish in Sheffield Township.
Fedora was a member of the Good Life Singers, a reading tutor at Ridgeview Elementary where she enjoyed being with the children; served on the Library Board for Kingsville Public Library; was a member of AAUW; and enjoyed her membership in the Red Hat Society.
Fedora will be remembered as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandma and friend. Her strength and dignity through adversity; her love of family and friends; is a cherished memory.
Fedora is survived by her beloved husband, Francis "Frank" Stenger of Kingsville; her children, Michael Stenger of Omaha, NE, Edward and Jean Stenger of Shaker Heights, Matthew and Jennifer Stenger of Norton and Anita Dacanay, also of Shaker Heights; her precious grandchildren, Tonya (Richard) Wilson, Joseph Stenger, Hannah Stenger, Gabriel Dacanay, Sofia Dacanay, Ava Stenger and Zachary Stenger; her siblings, Peter (Edna) Manfredi and Anthony (Wendy) Manfredi; loving nieces and nephews.
Fedora was preceded in death by her son, Eric J. Stenger on June 12, 2011; brother, Victor Manfredi; and her parents.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday, November 11, 2017, at Our Lady of Peace Parish, St. Joseph Church; Reverend David Bridling to officiate.
