Floyd's Story

Floyd B. Starkey Jr., age 92, of Murrells Inlet, S.C., passed away Sunday, March 12, 2017, at the Medical University of South Carolina.
He was born Sept. 24, 1924, in Geneva, Ohio, son of the late Floyd B. Starkey Sr. and Ellen Le Crone Starkey.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Eleanor Irene "Ellie" Starkey; brother, George Starkey; and sister, Betty Kennedy.
Floyd is survived by his son, Jeffrey B. (Lenore) Starkey of Brewster, Mass.; his daughter, Deidre (Harry) Williams of Geneva, Ohio; his grandson, Christopher Williamson; two brothers, Bill Starkey of Painesville, Ohio, and Bruce (Ellie) Starkey of Laporte, Texas; three sisters, Ruth (Denny) Heiner of Ashland, Ohio, and Lois Stanton and Mary Starkey, both of Geneva, Ohio.
Services will be privately held for Floyd and his late wife, Ellie at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, Mass., with military honors.
