Text size

Freeman V. Pudder, age 85, of Geneva, passed away at Rae-Ann Skilled Nursing Facility on Saturday, March 18, 2017. Born November 1, 1931, in Webster Springs, W.Va., he was the son of the late William and Lula Gay (Wood) Pudder.
After his military service, Freeman had many different jobs. He worked in a body shop, in construction as a carpenter, and in a factory. He was extremely proud to have worked with many great people and become a leader, retiring from Hubbell Industries in Madison where he made many lifelong friends.
Freeman was a very determined person, always enjoyed helping family and friends with anything he could do. He always made himself available to help with improvement projects. He loved gardening and at times he had two to three gardens going at once in different locations. He was brought up with a deep belief and faith in God by his mother who was a deeply spiritual person. He often dedicated his time to help at a local church as a handyman and groundskeeper. He even helped out as a Sexton at local cemeteries, all this while doing his part to spread the gospel.
Freeman always honored his mother in her later years, with a deep love and respect for his siblings, he cherished his children and tried his best to give them guidance. He also cherished the many friends that become family to him over the years.
He is survived by his sons, Wayne, Roger, Mark, and Michael Pudder; grandchildren, Jesse, Nick, Eric, Rusty, Yvonne; five great grandchildren; sisters, Jeana Hoffman and Norma Brown; and brothers, LeRoy and Ronnie Pudder.
Freeman is preceded in death by his parents; second wife, Barbara Pudder; sisters, Delma, and Gaytha; brother, Franklin Pudder; and first wife, Mildred Karen Gordon.
Funeral Services for Freeman will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at THE BEHM FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 175 South Broadway, Geneva. Pastor Mark Winner of Cornerstone Friends Church in Madison will officiate the service. Friends and family will be received for one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m., at the funeral home. Freeman's family would like to send their deep appreciation to all that had any part of his care. All of you are very special people for the work, care, and love you have shown. Thank you to the staff and administration of the Sanctuary of Geneva, Rae-Ann Nursing Home, Hospice of the Western Reserve and the Veteran Service Commission of Lake and Ashtabula Counties.
