Gerard Lee Boyle, age 61, of Ann Arbor, Mich., passed away May 11, 2017, surrounded by his family after a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer.
Jerry (as most knew him) was born April 13, 1956, to Frank E. and Marguerite K. (Brooks) Boyle of Ashtabula. He was a AHS graduate, Class of 1974.
After working at Reliance Electric, Ashtabula, he went on to OSU to graduate with a BS in Metallurgic Engineering in 1983. He worked for multiple employers primarily in the Aerospace and Automotive Industries. In 1993, Jerry moved to Michigan to accept a position at Ford Motor Company settling in Ann Arbor in 1996.
Jerry often traveled to China for both work and pleasure, cultivating lasting friendships along the way. He also enjoyed frequenting Cape Coral, Fla., as often as possible to either collaborate on Jim's boat or ride in it out to Cabbage Key, Fla., one of his favorite places.
Among some of his other passions were, jet engines, cars and motorcycles. Rebuilding engines was a challenge he readily accepted and most often with great success.
Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, Marguerite.
He is survived by his father, Frank; two brothers, James (Alicia) Boyle of Cape Coral, Fla., and David (Jennie) Boyle of Townville, S.C.; and a sister, Natalie (Michael) Vernon of Ashtabula; along with many nieces and nephews.
A Memeorial gathering to celebrate Jerry's life will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2017, from 2-5 p.m. at the family home 6705 Sanborn Road, Saybrook, Ohio 44005. All that wish to celebrate are welcome.
