Gladys Eleanor Price (nee: Swanson), 97, of Ft. Myers, Fla., passed away Sept. 12, 2017.
She was born in Richmond, Ohio, to Patrick Barnard and Sophie Caroline Swanson on April 20, 1920.
After graduation, she worked at Carlisle Allens and in Washington D.C. returning to Ashtabula to marry Chester Price. She and Chester were married May 28, 1941. She lived in both Ashtabula and Jefferson before moving to Ft. Myers, Fla., almost forty years ago.
Gladys was an adventurous person. When she was about fifty years old she took lessons to learn to ride a horse and later lessons to ride a motorcycle. After moving to Florida, she and Chester bought a crabbing business and had many adventures on the water. She was the able skipper of the boat.
She is survived by her son, Dennis of Ft. Myers; son-in-law, David Diehl; and daughter-in-law, Rosemary Price.
Also surviving are grandchildren, Gary Diehl, Brian (Jennifer), Rachel Wright (David), Rebekka Egbert (David) and Renee Price (Adam Ward); Great-grandchildren, Katie and Matthew Diehl, Nicholas and Joshua Diehl, Richard Price, Rosalind Wright, Gail Fortunato, Lucy Ward, and Aidan and Shane Egbert.
Proceeding her in death were her parents; her husband, Chester Price; her daughter, Valerie Diehl; and her son, Richard Price.
Also proceeding her were brothers, Arthur and George Swanson; and sisters, Hilda Anderson and Edith Strong.
