Howard's Story

Text size

Howard J. Keenan, age 78, on Friday, March 31st, the world became a less interesting place when we learned that Howard passed away. Howard is now reunited with his beloved wife, Jacqueline.
The son of Howard Keenan and Cecilia Schaefer, he was born in Washington, Pa., on Dec. 30, 1938.
After school, he served his country honorably in the US Army Reserves. He went on to live his life in Northeast Ohio.
During his career using his generous mechanical, artistic, and interpersonal talents, he repaired machines and cars, and ran Keenan Auto Body; and finally trained countless other men in his trade as a teacher at Mentor High School where he retired.
He raised a family in Geneva and called it his home. He took joy in golf, cars, socializing and all people he met. He was charismatic, liked by everyone who met him and easy to love.
He would always say that his greatest accomplishment in life was his family which he cherished. The pride he took in each child and grandchild was deep and sincere. Seeing every one of them thriving in life gave him the happiness that carried him through.
He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend. He is loved and will be missed by many.
He is survived by his children, Katherine (Jim) Molloy of Westborough, Md., Michael "Chris" (Connie) Keenan of Geneva, Nikola (Dave) Gazeley of Madisonville, La., and Kevin (Laura) Keenan of Bexley, Ohio; beloved grandchildren, Jamie (Albert) Rivero, Erin Molloy, Thomas (Christine) Kelly, Brittany (Marcus) Romeo, Michael Keenan, Kaitlyn Keenan, Lauren Gazeley, Abigail Keenan, Phoebe Keenan, and Gabriel Keenan; his brother, Edward Keenan of Angier, N.C.; and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline (neƩ: Conrad), who passed away on Jan. 19, 2013; his sister, Joyce Fletcher; and his parents.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 7, 2017, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 19951 Lakeshore Blvd., Euclid, Ohio. The Rev. Joe Fortuna will preside.
If desired, contributions in Howard's name may be made to the church.
