Jeannette's Story

Jeannette (Boomhower) Love, age 98, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 14, 2017, at the home of her daughter.
The daughter of Robert Lee and Mary Elizabeth (Austin) Boomhower, Jeannette was born at the family home on Aug. 11, 1918, in Saybrook Township, where she remained a lifelong resident. She was a member of the graduating class of 1936 of Ashtabula High School.
She was a long-time member of Saybrook United Methodist Church and attended regularly until her health no longer permitted her to do so.
Mary Jeannette and Jay Darwin Love were united in marriage on May 6, 1939, and were married 31 years prior to his death on April 17, 1971.
For a time, Jeannette worked for Marian and Carey Sheldon and their family, and also was a cook at Lake Erie College. Jeannette's true vocation was one of homemaker for her husband and children. She was a nurturing person and enjoyed caring for others.
A wonderful sister, wife, mother, companion, grandma and great-grandma; Jeannette loved her family and friends unconditionally. She loved all creatures great and small; there was always room on her lap for one more.
Jeannette is survived by her children, Carol (Bill) Proctor of Irmo, S.C., Jim (Sandie) Love of Bellevue, Ohio, and Jon (Lisa) Love of Ashtabula where she made her home for the past eleven years; six beloved grandchildren; 14 precious great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Jeannette was preceded in death by her husband, Jay Love, on April, 17, 1971; sisters, Frances Carlson (1939), Irene Nist (2004), Doris Somersby (2016) and Ruth Boomhower (2015); brothers, Joe (1991), Milton "Bud" Boomhower (2017); her parents Robert Lee (1956) and Mary (1949); and her longtime companion Howard Hickok (2006).
Funeral Services will be held at 11a.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at the ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 West Prospect Rd., Ashtabula, Ohio, 44004. Rev. Dr. Michael Meranda, pastor of Messiah Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Saybrook Cemetery.
A calling hour will be observed from 10a.m. until time of service at 11a.m. at the ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 West Prospect Rd., Ashtabula, Ohio, 44004.
