Joyce (Germaine) Mascorella

Thompson Joyce Mascorella, age 88, a former resident of Thompson, Ohio, passed away Friday, June 30, 2017 at Geauga Hospital.

Born June 15, 1929 in Pierpont, Ohio, she was the daughter of Magdalene and Orval Cork. On May 20, 1950, she married Samuel Mascorella, spouse of 62 years.

Joyce loved her family and instilled in each one of them the value of spending time together. She will be remembered for cooking wonderful Sunday dinners, which were never a requirement, but always attended by all. That tradition, which she established, will carry on.

A Lake Erie College graduate, she was a teacher at Ledgemont Elementary School for 28 years. She never had a favorite student, but loved each one of them the same.

She is survived by daughters, Randy Mascorella and Penny (Danny) Cunningham; grandsons, Sean Cunningham and Neil (Bonnie) Cunningham; great-grandchildren, Jude, Asher, Taylor and Ava Cunningham; brother, Edward Cork; and sister, Patricia Innocenzi; and many nieces and nephews.

On Saturday, July 8th, 2017, there will be a Memorial Service at Thompson United Methodist Church at 10:00 a.m.

Arrangements are being handled by The Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street, Madison, OH.
