Loren's Story

MONROE TWP. - On November 29, 2017, Loren W. Ring went to be with his Lord after a long struggle with Alzheimer's. He was born at home on a dairy and apple farm outside of Conneaut on August 10, 1934 and was the middle of nine children of Milton A. and Leonarda Fox Ring.
Loren graduated from Rowe High School in 1953 where he excelled in basketball and track.
On April 9, 1955, he married the former Nancy Wright. From 1957 to 1959 he served in the U.S. Army mainly at Fort Carson, Colorado as a supply clerk and company armor.
In December 1960, Loren and Nancy purchased a farm in Monroe Township where they would spend the rest of their lives breeding Jersey cows and raising their family. Loren was a supervisor on The Soil and Conservation Board for 28 years, a Monroe Township trustee for 8 years and a Republican precinct committeeman. He was a member of Pierpont Presbyterian Church, The Farm Bureau and The American Jersey Cattle Club. He was a progressive farmer being one of the first farms in the county to install systematic tiling and many other conservation practices.
Loren and Nancy raised four children: Milton L. (Tami) Ring and Jeffery M. (Carole) Ring both of Pierpont, Martha (Dario Muzina) Ring of Moreland Hills, and Sara (Steve) Falis of Marietta, GA. They have 11 grandchildren, Mitchell, Jeremy, Lucas, Rebekkah, Rachaelle, Zachary, Melinda, Justin, Cody, Alyx, Addie, and seven great-grandchildren Daniel, Aiden, Trenton, Landon, Grace, Emma and Parker. He is also survived by his brother Richard Ring and his sisters June Thompson, Bess Koval and Rachel Spear.
Loren was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Paul and Milton Ring; and sisters, Mary Bunnell and Jane Rhoads.
Calling hours will be held from 4-8 PM Friday, December 8 at the Williams-Ducro Funeral Home, 1071 SR 7, Pierpont, Ohio.
The funeral will be held 11 AM December 9 at Pierpont Presbyterian Church, 71 SR 7, Pierpont.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Pierpont Presbyterian Church or to Hospice of the Western Reserve.
