Luddie William Carmichael, Sr., 78 was called home to be with his Lord on July 24, 2017.
The son of Tommy Lee and Lelar (Johnson) Carmichael, Luddie was born in Tuskegee, Alabama on March 26, 1939.
Luddie retired from U.S. Steel after 20 years of dedicated service.
On July 28, 2001 Luddie and Ada Gray were united in marriage, although their time together was short the memories they created are many.
Luddie is a vital member of People's Missionary Baptist Church; he was appointed deacon on April 29, 2009 under the direction of his Pastor, Rev. Dr. German Womack. Born with a servant's heart, Luddie would help anyone in need. He mowed yards for those who could not and helped with the upkeep of the church retreat in Madison. Luddie enjoyed BBQ cooking for his church's rib dinners, going fishing and talking on the CB. His name was "Buckeye Rabbit" and he could be heard for hours talking to his friends from near and far.
Luddie will be remembered for his love of the Lord, his generous spirit and kind heart, his warm smile and genuine love for his fellow man.
Luddie is survived by his beloved wife, Ada Carmichael of Ashtabula; children, Luddie (Yolanda) Carmichael, Jr., of Akron, Alisha Wilson of Barberton, and Christopher (Chantael) Gray of Chesapeake, VA; grandchildren, Simone, Dominic, Don, Elijah, Marlisa, and Kirtlyn; his siblings, Margaret Trent and Deliria Greathouse both of Bartow, FL, Sylvester Greathouse, and Larry Greathouse both of Cleveland; many loving nieces and nephews.
Luddie was preceded in death by his siblings, Clarence Greathouse, Robert Greathouse, Frazier Greathouse, and Doris Mott and his parents.
Homegoing services will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at People's Missionary Baptist Church, 3837 West Avenue Ashtabula Ohio. Rev.Dr. German Womack will officiate, Luddie W. Carmichael, Jr. will serve as Eulogist. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville, Ohio.
Visitation will be observed from 10-11Am on Saturday, July, 29, 2017 at the church.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to People's Missionary Baptist Church.
