Nancy's Story

Nancy S. Rauhe, 76, of State Rd., passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2017, at Lantern of Madison-Saybrook.
She was born May 27, 1940, in Greenville, Pa., the daughter of Zarko and Marie Louise (Kefurt) Kresovich, and had been an Ashtabula resident most of her life.
A 1958 graduate of Ashtabula High School, she received her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Kent State University in 1962. Prior to her retirement in 1994, she taught thirty-two years in the Buckeye Local School District, mostly at Kingsville Elementary School. She continued to have an impact on the many children she taught, helping them throughout their lives.
A member of Our Lady of Peace, St. Joseph Church, she helped with the food pantry for 15 years and was a faithful parishioner offering daily prayers for countless people.
She loved all flowers and was devoted to her family. Her caring nature and concern for others will be deeply missed by the many lives she touched.
Her survivors include her husband, Peter F. Rauhe, whom she married on Jan. 19, 1963; three children, Peter F. (Barb) Rauhe of Shaker Heights, Ginger (Duane) Malcolm of Canton, and Scott (Dawn) Rauhe of Lakewood; eight grandchildren, Peter M., Julia, and Elena Rauhe, Zach and twins Marisa and Megan Hofstetter, Emily Malcolm, and Aidan Rauhe; and one sister, Judy Brown of Ashtabula.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Joann Merlini and Virginia Ekensten; and her parents.
Calling Hours will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at the ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 West Prospect Rd., Ashtabula.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at Our Lady of Peace, St. Joseph Church, 3312 Lake Ave., Ashtabula. Rev. David Bridling will preside with Deacon Rich Johnson delivering the homily. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
