Oliver's Story

Oliver Big O Graves Jr, age, 81 of Parkman Ohio passed away January 14, 2018 at UH Geauga Medical Center. He was born November 11, 1936 in Cleveland Ohio to the late Oliver and Dorothy (Washington) Graves. He retired from the US Army after 23 years of service. He served in both the Korean and Viet Nam Wars. He received many commendations including the Bronze Star Medal. When he retired from the Army, he worked in management for UPS for several years.

Oliver was known for his love of Top 40 music, dancing on Friday nights, and always wearing his bib overalls. He bowled in several leagues and scored many 300 games. He was a strong willed, honest, straightforward man who will be truly missed.

He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, of 57 years, Margaret (Walker) Graves, his sons Oliver (Joe McDevitt) Graves, and Michael (Sherry) Graves, his brother Robert (Arlene) Graves, and sisters Norma (Irvin) Banks and Ella Hammond. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Irving Graves. He will be fondly remembered by his loving family members and many friends.

Calling hours will be held at the Russell-Sly Family Funeral Home in Middlefield, Saturday January 20, 2018 from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM with a Celebration of his life Service to follow at 1:00. His son Michael will be officiating. Burial will be at the Overlook Cemetery at a later date.
