Peter's Story

Text size

Peter Allen Keenan, 45, of Ashtabula, passed away unexpectedly at home due to natural causes on Thursday, April 27, 2017. Peter was born August 30, 1971 in Huntington, WV. He was the son of the late Robert A. Keenan and the late Constance Coville Keenan Madar. Peter graduated valedictorian of his class in 1989 at Ashtabula High School. Peter enjoyed racing sailboats and was a crew member of the boat "NATURALLY". Peter was a brilliant musician, songwriter and storyteller. His songs and writings are part of what defined him. He traveled the country playing with the band "FLO" and other quality musicians.
Peter and the band played at the world famous "Don't Tell Mama's Cabaret" and they were one out of 100 bands to play their all-original music at the New York International Music and Film Festival. He loved kids and animals, particularly cats, and loved the outdoors and camping: good friends, good conversation, and a good beer was a grand enjoyment for him. Though forty-Five years is considered a short life, Peter filled it with great memories for all of those who knew him; and those who knew him can take comfort knowing that he loved everyone.
Peter leaves behind a sister, Melissa (Bill) Glass and a brother Robert (Jen) Keenan, step-father P. Thomas Madar, step-sister Stephanie Madar, and a step-brother, Tom Madar. He was an uncle to William and Jacob Glass, Alexandria, Margaret, and Robert Keenan. He also leaves behind numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins in West Virginia, his best friend from childhood, Karl Schmidt, and numerous friends he made along his journey and the guys from the band "FLO".
A Memorial get together and celebration will be held at the East Ashtabula Club pavilion, 2323 Columbus Ave. in Ashtabula on Saturday July 22, 2017 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM. Pete would be happy if his family, friends and acquaintances would join in and have a toast in his honor. He personally would always prefer a craft beer and would certainly tip one with us.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Ave, Ashtabula, Ohio 44004 to help pay for Ducro's services. Pete did not have insurance.
