Rita Kaye Gillespie, 67, of Ashtabula, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at the Cleveland Clinic.
She was born April 28, 1950 in Paintsville, Kentucky daughter of the Elijah Ray Mollette and Etta Mae Arthur. Rita was a 1968 graduate of Geneva High School and remained a lifelong area resident.
Kaye worked as a legal secretary for many years. She worked in the offices of Diamond, Dubsky&Ford;, Tom Simon, and most recently at Warren & Young. Kaye had a great taste for decorating; she enjoyed doing yard work and gardening; and was a talented crocheter, making pieces for her family to enjoy. Most of all Kaye enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by her sons, David E. Gillespie II of Columbus and Brian S. Gillespie and his wife Angie of Geneva; her mother, Etta Mae LaRue; sister, Garnetta Dragon; and grandchildren, Rian, Codey, Ayden, Hannah.
She was preceded in death by her father; and a brother Kenny in infancy.
A celebration of Rita's life will be held Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at the Pentecostal Church of God, 2221 Cook Rd., Ashtabula. Ducro Funeral Home and Crematory, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula is handling arrangements.
