Robert L. McTrusty III M.D., 82, passed away Friday, October 20, 2017. His peaceful passing occurred at Silver Sands Assisted Living, surrounded by his loving family. The transition into his new life, greeted by his beloved wife, Dottie and youngest daughter Marian, was made easier by the wonderful care he received from his "girls" of Silver Sands and Bella Care Hospice. Upon graduation from high school Bob attend the University of Illinois, where he participated in Chorale and performed on the Ed Sullivan Show. After three years he went on to the Medical school at the University of Chicago. It was while interning at Cook County Hospital he met his wife, Dottie, the true love of his life. Bob settled his family in Ashtabula sharing an OB/GYN office with Gordon Jones MD and then with Shin Huang MD. He was proud to be part of Ashtabula General Hospital / ACMC. He introduced many progressive innovations for the care of mothers, fathers and the birth of their new children. Bringing a child into the world was his greatest joy. He was especially proud of volunteering for The Family Planning Clinic to help provide free prenatal care to women in the community.
Bob believed that education helps to make positive changes and this led to his joining Physicians for Social Responsibility, Sunflower Alliance and activism in the Peace Movement. He and Dottie found these to be a true calling and worked tirelessly to spread the word of peace in our world.
