Robert J. Meaney, 86, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Saybrook Landing.
He was born on February 16, 1931 in Plymouth Township, in the same home his father was born in on Morgan-Meaney Road. Robert was the son of Elizabeth M. (Morgan) and Leo J. Meaney. He graduated from Ashtabula High School Class of 1949 and attended The Ohio State University.
Mr. Meaney owned and operated Bob Meaney Chrysler-Plymouth Dealership from 1967 to 1984. His passing brings "an end to an era" to the way business was conducted and the last of nine siblings to pass away. Bob was a member of the Automobile Dealer Association of Ohio.
Mr. Meaney was a devote Catholic and was a member of Our Lady Of Peace Parrish. Robert enjoyed raising and riding horses and was an avid Cleveland Indians and Ohio State Football fan.
He is survived by his two children, Nancy (Larry) Fratis and Robert (Jeanne) Meaney, II; grandchildren, Robert Meaney, III, Elizabeth (Michael Pickett) Meaney and Mary Theresa Fratis; dear friend Tim Miggo; and cousin Joseph (Ann) Gillette.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, whom he married on September 5, 1953, Sally Lou (Hall) Meaney in 2007; and his siblings, Gertrude Lipps-Tranett; Georgianna Egbert; Lawrence Meaney; Ruth Urban, Maynard Meaney; Mary Hladek-Sholtis; Margaret Martin, and Edward Meaney.
A memorial mass will be celebrated Monday, June 19, 2017 at 12:00 Noon at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, 1200 E. 21st, Ashtabula, con-celebrated with Rev. Fr. Raymond Thomas and Rev. Fr. J. Patrick Manning. Please join the family at the Mt. Carmel Hall following services. Inurnment of cremains will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of our father may be given to the Bella Care Hospice, 1933 State Route 45, Austinburg, Ohio, 44010.
