Robert's Story

Robert L. (Bob) Scherman, age 92, passed away in Cape Coral, Florida on Sunday, July 2, 2017.
Bob was born on February 22, 1925 and was a long time resident of the Ashtabula area and a graduate of Edgewood High School.

Bob served in the U.S. Navy during World War II; the ship he served with was struck by a Kamikaze in Leyte Gulf. After the war Bob returned to the Ashtabula area and worked for Reliance Electric until retirement. Following retirement Bob and his wife moved to Cape Coral Florida.

Bob was an avid hunter and fisherman and also a life time member of the VFW and the Elks club. Bob enjoyed watching sports especially football and basketball. Bob had a lot of good friends and enjoyed socializing.

Bob is survived by his wife Levitation (Jewel) Scherman of Cape Coral; three sons, William Scherman of Cherry Creek, New York, Ronald Scherman of Chesterfield, New Hampshire, and Robert Scherman of Columbus Ohio; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held 1 PM with services to follow on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Zaback-Williams-Ducro Funeral Home, 500 West Prospect Road, Ashtabula, Ohio.
