Robert Fred Stewart Sr., age 79, of Ashtabula Township, passed away Monday, May 15, 2017, at the Cleveland Clinic.
He was born on March 21, 1938, in Austinburg, Ohio, the son of Fred W. and Alice (Fenton) Stewart and had been a lifelong resident of the area.
Bob worked as a tool and die maker for the Ashtabula Bow Socket and after it closed, for various other companies in the area. He served honorably in the United States Marines Corps during the Korean War.
Mr. Stewart volunteered many hours at the Ashtabula Pentecostal Church of God and the Special Olympics, for which he spent countless hours creating their awards. He was a member of the Army Navy Union and the Marine Corps League.
Bob was a master woodworker, giving away many of his projects to family and friends. He enjoyed yardwork, working around his home and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mae (Cogswell) Stewart, whom he married on Dec. 9, 1970; children, Linda (Bill) Krenisky, Terry (Jan) Markwell, Scott Cropeck, Yvette (John) Pinson, and Robert F. Stewart Jr.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and special niece, whom he considered a daughter, Sherri (Howard) Starr.
He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Alice and Emery Curtiss; his father, Fred W. Stewart; and a sister, Edith Murphy.
Funeral Services will be held, Thursday, May 18, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the Ashtabula Pentecostal Church of God, 2221 Cook Road, Ashtabula, with the Rev. Kenneth Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, where Military Honors will be performed. Friends and family will be received at the Church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of Services at 11 a.m.
