Roosevelt Herbert Corpening, Sr., 80, died Monday, January 1, 2018 at ACMC.
He was born July 12, 1937 in Coopers, WV, the son of Hubert and Iler (Craner) Corpening and had been an Ashtabula resident most of his life.
Prior to his retirement in 2002, he worked as a chemical operator for Gabriel Performance Products, formerly Diamond Shamrock.
Rosey will forever be remembered as a fun-loving family man. He worked hard and was good to everyone, always putting others before himself. He was also a true sports fan and passionately cheered for his Cleveland and Ohio State teams.
His survivors include his wife, Vivian (Jones) Corpening, whom he married May 16, 1984; children, Col. Roosevelt (Gayla) Corpening, Ronald (Kathy) Corpening, Valerie Corpening, Richard Corpening, Robin (Diane) Corpening, Jami (Byron) Chapman, Lisa Corpening, Reginald Corpening, Mario (Cherie) Corpening, Kecia Cooper, Barbara Ezell, Glenda (Michael) Hunt, Anthony "Rusty" (Natalie) Ezell, Arthur Ezell, Anthony Miller, and Tyrone Corpening; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three sisters, Gloria Gumms, Josephine Hunter, and Barbara Brown; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Missy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Raymond Corpening; daughter Regina Alston; and brothers, James and William Corpening and Charles Guess.
Calling hours will be held from 10-11 AM with a service to follow at 11AM on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at the ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 West Prospect Road, Ashtabula. Elder Emory Moore of New Hope COGIC will officiate. Burial will be in Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Ashtabula. www.ducro.com
