Terry T. Coursen, 79, died unexpectedly on Sunday, December 10, 2017, at Saybrook Landing. He was born on December 5, 1938, in Ashtabula, Ohio, the son of Raymond Thomas and Floretta (Verdi) Coursen.
Terry graduated from Ashtabula High School Class of 1957 and served honorably in the United States Army and Army Reserves from 1958 to 1964. He married the love of his life, Joann Elizabeth Hiam on March 3, 1962. Terry previously worked for Terry and Doug's Texaco Gas Station on Main Ave., CEI and then later at General Tire and Rubber (Vygen Corp) until his retirement in 1999.
He was a former member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Ashtabula. Terry just received his 35 year pin from the Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio, Orion Lodge #353 in Kingsville, where he served as five time Past Master and was also a member of the Orion Lodge Order of Eastern Star Chapter #12. Terry was fond of playing golf and bowling and in his early years, was a pin boy at the bowling alley. He enjoyed watching Cleveland Indians Baseball and college football as well.
Mr. Coursen is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Joann E. Coursen; children, Scott Coursen, Justine Coursen-Lee, Tyler (Heather) Coursen and Sandra (Danny) Frasure; grandchildren, Azaria (Nick) Mullen, Spencer (Trinity) Lee and Raymond and Carmela Coursen; great-grandchildren, Kyler and Irelynn Mullen and Carson Lee, as well as Carson's sister, who will be born on December 30; and his brothers, Daniel Coursen and Ronald Coursen.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Douglas Coursen; and his sister-in-law, Darlene Coursen.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, December 13, 2017, from 4PM to 5PM at Ducro Funeral Services and Crematory, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula. Funeral services will follow at 5:00PM with Rev. Robert Leonard, officiating. Following services masonic services and military rites will be observed.
