Theodore James Evans, 79, of Geneva, died Nov. 18, 2017, surrounded by family in Fort Stewart, Georgia of natural causes.
He was born on December 15, 1938 to William and Helen Evans in Geneva, Ohio.
Theodore joined the United States Navy in 1956, where he was a firefighter and radar equipment operator, serving three years on the U.S.S. Yosemite (AD-19) as part of the Atlantic Fleet.
He worked as a tradesman for over 40 years before retiring in 2003. He held various occupations including; electrician, general contractor, woodworker, factory laborer, and sanitation services.
He enjoyed fishing, fine woodworking, and repairing vehicles in his spare time. He also enjoyed old western movies and listening to classic country music.
He is survived by four siblings Donald Evans, Thomas Evans, Danny Evans, Lois Keever (Evans). Ten children Doug Evans, Valerie Privette (Evans), Pamela Akins (Evans), Guy Evans, Richard Evans, Alan Evans, Gail Evans, Evan Arbuckle, Timothy Evans, Katrina Evans, 24 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
Theodore is preceded in death by his father, William Keith Evans and mother, Helen Evelyn Evans (Deemer).
A private ceremony will be held at a later date. The family would like to give a special thanks for the kind and comforting care provided by Signature Healthcare of Savannah, Memorial Health Oncology Department, and Hospice of South Georgia.
