ASHTABULA - Thomas "Skeeter" B. McIntyre, 88, passed away January 21, 2019 on the Hospice Unit at ACMC.

He was born in Wilkensburg, PA on May 30, 1930 the son of Charles and Alice (Lawton) McIntyre.

"Skeeter" was a 1948 graduate of Aspenwall High School. He was active in sports in high school and after graduation, he played football, basketball, softball and was a bowler.

He very proudly served his country in the US Army from 1952-1954 He was part of the tank division and was stationed for 18 months in Germany.

On June 21, 1952 he married his one and only true love and his bride of 66 1/2 years Gertrude P. Hamre.

"Skeeter" completed his advanced electrical training in Chicago and came to Ashtabula and worked for 38 years for Reliance Electric until his retirement in 1987.

He was a very dedicated member of the Harbor High School Athletic Boosters for many, many years holding several offices including that of President for the boosters; there wasn't anything he wouldn't do for the student athletes of Harbor High School. Some of his very best friendships were those made during his years with the athletic boosters. He was also a past member of the Ashtabula Beagle Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing at his cabin in Pennsylvania and on Lake Erie. For many summers he served as First Mate for several local fishing charters. He was also a skilled handyman and loved woodworking. When his sons were little he coached their teams for many years at Ashtabula and Saybrook Little Leagues. Above all, "Skeeter" was a family man. There was nothing more important to him than his wife, sons, and grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving family; his wife Gertrude, sons: Blaine C. McIntyre of Ashtabula and Darryl D McIntyre of Tellico Plains, TN; his grandchildren: Christopher, Daniel and Emily; and his great-grandchildren: Seth, Tommy and Lincoln.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Donald McIntyre.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday January 26th at 4:00 pm at CZUP FUNERAL HOME, 1329 Lake Avenue Ashtabula; with calling hours also being held on Saturday prior to the service from 2:00 to 4:00 at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions can be made in his name to Hospice of the Western Reserve or Rainbows Babies and Children's Hospital, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
