William "Bill" A. Manley, 95, of East Springfield, PA., passed peacefully at his home Friday morning, December 1, 2017. Bill was born October 6, 1922, in Painesville, OH, and was the son of Sylvester and Mary (Palecek) Manley.
In 1943, Bill entered the United States Army serving during WWII under General Patton in the Battle of the Bulge. He was the recipient of the EAME Theater Ribbon, Three Bronze Service Stars, Good Conduct Medal, Purple Heart, Go 6 Hq 76th Inf 45 World War II Victory Ribbon, and the American Theater Ribbon. Bill was honorably discharged following his war time in November of 1945.
Following his honorable service to our country, he worked for General Electric and retired from Conneaut Die Cast in 1987 as head die caster. Retirement was not in store for Bill, so he followed his heart and began farming with a focus to breeding livestock. Along with farming, he was known to many locals for scrapping and selling scrap materials. He was a member of the Eagles, Moose and VFW.
Above all, Bill enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren Rosie and Willie, whom along with his son Michael, were honored to have been able to care for him in his final days at home.

Survivors include two sons, Leonard (Mary) Manley of West Springfield, PA, and Michael (Rita) Manley of Lake City, PA; sister, Grace Degraff of Painesville, OH; two grandchildren, Rose (Eric) Stillman of Conneaut, and Will Manley of East Springfield, PA; and four great grandchildren, Jasmine, Austin, Scott, and Violet.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Leatrice Manley; twin sons in infancy, Anthony and John; sisters Viola Storey, Evie Ferrell, Mabel Hemming, Helen Spencer, Dorothy Dinkowitch, and Bertha Adams; and three brothers Edgar, Jimmy and Robert Manley.
Memorial Service will be held 2:00 P.M., Sunday, January 14th 2018, at the Church of God, 5327 Center Rd. (St. Rt. 7) Conneaut, Ohio.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Conneaut Church of God or the Conneaut Food Pantry in Bill's memory. Envelopes will be available at the church and also at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St. Conneaut, OH, which has been entrusted with arrangements.
