William Wayne Tobias, 62, of North Kingsville, passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2017, surrounded by his family, at the Cleveland Clinic.
Bill was born on October 10, 1955 in Ashtabula the son of Edward J. and Florence B. (Chitester) Tobias and was a lifelong resident of the area. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. Bill received his Associates degree in Criminal Justice, held a real estate license, as well as a cosmetology license for over 20 years.
Most recently he was employed with Lake Erie Correctional Facility for the past 12 years, where he was Chief of Security. Bill owned and operated Bill Tobias Salon and previously Makin Waves Hair Salon.
He loved sports and enjoyed participating in them as well as coaching with the Ashtabula and North Kingsville Little Leagues, as well as the PAL Basketball League. Bill enjoyed running and was a member of the Ashtabula Distance Runners. He also had a passion for martial arts and taught at Parks Tae Kwon Do. Bill loved enjoyed obstacle course races and working out. He was an avid practical jokester and had a great sense of humor! Above all else, he loved spending time with his family.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Christine Tobias, whom he married on August 31, 2013; daughter, Christy Tobias; grandchildren, Kayla and Alexander Claypool; great-grandson, Nicholas Bruckman; brother, Malcolm (Krista) Tobias; half-brother, Eric (Nicole) Hodges; and step-sons, Matthew, Marcus and Maxwell Barrickman.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Tracy Lynn Tobias.
Calling hours will be held Sunday, October 29 from 3 to 7 PM at Zaback Williams Ducro Funeral Home, 500 W. Prospect Rd., Ashtabula. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 30 at 12 NOON at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, where military honors will be performed.
