Charles Otis "Chuck" Lyon, age 89, of Saybrook, died June 8, 2017, at home, peacefully, with his loving family at his side.
Church was preceded in death by his parents, Grace and Chet Lyon; sisters, Marilyn Goddard and Marjorie West.
Chuck leaves behind his wife of 68 years, Shirley (Sitterly); daughters, Nancy Scott, Robin (Pete) Teston, and Beth Lyon; grandchildren, Eric Scott, Timothy Stewart, Sara Teston, Ellen Lanphere and Julie Revis; and six great-grandchildren.
Chuck served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict as well as the National Guard.
He developed Lake Lyon Allotment in Saybrook, volunteered many years of service with the Saybrook Fire Department and enjoyed acting in the Ashtabula Straw Hat Theater and Dock Street Theater of Charleston, S.C.
He loved music, played keyboard and piano, sang in a barbershop quartet, and played in a small band in Brevard, N.C.
Chuck was a member of Ashtabula First Church of the Nazarene.
Chuck grew up in Ashtabula, moved to Charleston, S.C., upon retirement and later Brevard, N.C., prior to moving back to Ashtabula.
He donated his body to the Cleveland Clinic Body Donation Program for the advancement of medical science. As per his wishes, no funeral service will be held. A family celebration of life will occur at a later date.
