Damian's Story

Damian George James Potter, 28, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 2, 2017.
He was born May 24, 1988, in Ashtabula, the son of Fabian and LeAnne Potter, and had been an area resident most of his life.
A 2006 graduate of Lakeside High School, he ran track and cross country and wrestled for the Dragons, setting a school record in the 1600 meter run that still stands today.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in 2008 during Operation Iraqi Freedom and was proud to have been a part of the War on Terror.
A huge Michigan Wolverines fan, he was known for his silly nature, great sense of humor, and always wanting to make others laugh. He was a good dad and loved his children. His loss will be felt by all his family and friends and many in the community.
His survivors include his fiancée, Stephanie N. Black; three children, Peyton, Gavin, and Damian Jr.; his parents, Fabian and LeAnne Potter of Geneva; one brother, Fabian Potter, Jr.; five sisters, Judy (financé, Robert Gephart) Currence of Ashtabula, Nicole Whittington of Kingsville, Brianna Potter of Findlay, Mackenzie Potter of North Baltimore, and Katelyn Pownell of Lima; several other siblings; grandparents, Joseph and Brenda Harkins, Ken and Rose Hope, and George Potter; uncles, Bill (Elaine) Potter, Shannon, Jay, and Chris Harkins, Ken Hope Jr. and Jeff (Rose Mary) Hope; aunt, Dianna Frye; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandmother Margaret New; uncle, Sean Harkins; his finacée's mother, Ada Black; and his beloved pet Morris.
Calling hours will be held from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 6, 2017, and from 10-11 a.m. on Friday, April 7, 2017, at the DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 4524 Elm Avenue, Ashtabula.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Funeral Home. Pastor Samara Jenkins, of Plymouth United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville.
