Donald Richard Brown, formerly of Ashtabula, peacefully surrendered to Alzheimer's on Oct. 14, 2016.
Don was born March 13, 1926, in Ashtabula, Ohio, to Desta and William Brown and was a 1944 graduate of Ashtabula High School.
He served his country in the Navy from 1944 to 1946 and retired in 1978 from Jones and Laughlin Steel as Superintendent of the Union Dock.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Mary (Dempsey); sister, Norine (Welch); and brothers, Harold "Bud" and Bill Brown.
He is survived by his wife, Barb; daughters, Cathy Brown, Peggy (Dave) Arnold, Patty (Carl) Bujorian; step-children, Jack, Jim and Jerry Ogren, Linda Silvers and Marilyn Stoltz; and several nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2017, at Chestnut Grove Cemetery. The family welcomes you to join them at the cemetery and also at 1 p.m. for a celebration of life lunch at The Lodge at Geneva-on-the-Lake.
Donations could be made in his memory to the National Alzheimer's Association or to a charity of your choice.
