James J. Bowler, age 84, of Ashtabula, died Saturday, April 22, 2017, at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home after a long illness.
He was born May 26, 1932, in Ashtabula, Ohio. He was the son of James and Anna (Hosko) Bowler and a life-long Ashtabula resident.
Jim loved to be outdoors and prior to his illness enjoyed walking and fishing. He had a fascination with Alaska and the Northern Lights and delighted in learning about them. He was a life-long member of Our Lady of Peace Parish.
He will be most remembered for his kind nature and generous and warm heart.
He is survived by his three nephews, James Bowler (Winston-Salem, N.C.), John (Connie) Bowler of Jefferson, Ohio, and Timothy (Eileen) Bowler of Ashtabula, Ohio; nieces, Marie Bowler, Lindsey Bowler; and nephews, T. J. Bowler and Jay Bowler.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, John (Jack) Bowler and Frank Bowler; and sister-in-law, Carmel Bowler.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Parish, St. Joseph's Church, 3312 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, Ohio. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
At his request, no calling hours will be held.
The family wishes to thank and acknowledge the outstanding care, love, and support he received from his extended family from the Hospice of the Western Reserve and the staff of the Ashtabula County Nursing Home.

The CZUP FUNERAL HOME, 1329 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, is handling the arrangements for the family.
