Jerome M. Focht, age 79, of Susan Dr., Jefferson, died Monday in Hospice at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 26, 1937, in Cherry Valley, Pa., the son of Alfred R. and Thelma B. (Culver) Focht. He came to Ashtabula County from Cleveland in 1983, and moved to Jefferson in 1993. Jerome attended the Columbus School for the Deaf. He worked several years in the housekeeping department at the Lutheran Medical Center, retiring in 1983. He attended the Lutheran Church for the Deaf in Cleveland, where he was also the janitor.
Jerome loved to watch television, especially WWE Wrestling and Animal Planet.
Survivors include a sister, Janice R. (Robert) Fay of Jefferson; a sister-in-law, Cheryl (Al) Throop of Sheffield Township; three nephews; three nieces; and a great-nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John W. Focht; and two nieces.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Jefferson Home of FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS AND CREMATORY, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with Pastor Rick Havens, of Lenox Christian Fellowship Church, officiating. Burial will be at a later date at East Conneaut Cemetery.
