Jimmie's Story

Jimmie L. Loomis, 81, of Conneaut, passed away Monday evening, September 25, 2017 at the ACMC Hospice Unit. He was born May 5, 1936 in Conneaut, and was the son of Kenneth and Marcia (Woodworth) Loomis. Jimmie worked for Ashby Lakeview Dairy, Frank Fortune Grocery, and retired from Robert Cole Plastering January 29, 1993, after 27 years. He was a member of the State Line United Methodist Church and belonged to Thousand Trails Campground for over 10 years. After retirement, Jimmie enjoyed restoring Ford 8N and 9N tractors to show, going to car shows, especially in Hersey, PA, antique tractor shows, steam shows, going to different campgrounds, going shopping, auctions and fishing. Jimmie took great pride of his 1997 Ford pick-up truck and taking care of his eleven acre yard. Survivors include his wife of sixty one years, Charlotte (Cole), whom he married May 5, 1956; his brothers Duane (Marlene) Loomis, Claude Loomis, and Carl (Joyce) Loomis, all of Conneaut; his sister-in-law Arlene Loomis of Conneaut; in laws, Pauline Terrill of Pierpont, Robert Cole, Walter (Janet) Cole, Gary (Betty) Cole, Nancy (John) Kotnick all of Conneaut and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Kenneth and his first wife, Agnes Loomis, Walter (Marilyn) Loomis; and his sister-in-law Jean Loomis. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Saturday at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, with Pastor Sheila Brooker of State Line UMC, officiating, assisted by Rev. David Anderson. Burial will follow in Kelloggsville Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 and 5:00-7:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.
