John E. Frey, age 71, of Ashtabula, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, May 1, 2017.
He was born on August 25, 1945, in Ashtabula, Ohio, the son of George J. and Mary R. (Reed) Frey
John was an Ashtabula County Sherriff Deputy, serving in the detective bureau.
He was a member of the Ashtabula Pentecostal Church of God, F.O.P. Lodge #103, Geneva F & AM Lodge #334 and a past member of the Ashtabula VFW Lodge 943.
John enjoyed collecting coins, restoring Ford Tractors, riding motorcycles and showing classic muscle cars.
Mr. Frey is survived by his children, Loren J.E. Frey, Tim Frey and Christie (Tom) St. Angelo; grandchildren, Allie, Emily, Dustin, Cody and Cheyenne and Mary Grace and Mason; sister, Rosina (Richard) Goodwin; sister-in-law, Nancy Frey; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mark and Teresa Bates and Bob and Jackie Maple; and nieces and nephews, Josh (Erica) Bates, Burgundy (Anthony) LaCute, Derek (Amanda) Maple, Alex Maple and Ashley Maple and Bobby and John Frey.
He was preceded in death by his parents; the love of his life, Deborah (Little) Frey, whom he married on Nov. 15, 1997, in 2007; brothers, Bill Frey and Jim Reed; sister, Irene Dubach; and a nephew, Fred Dubach.
Calling Hours will be held on Friday, May 5, 2017, at the DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula, from 5 to 7 p.m., where Funeral Services will follow at 7 p.m., with the Rev. Kenneth Roberts officiating.
Graveside Service will be held Saturday, May 6th, at 10 a.m. at Saybrook Cemetery, where Military Honors will be performed.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of John may be given to the Ashtabula Little League, P.O. Box 2244, Ashtabula, Ohio 44005.
