Michael Joseph Clayman, age 58, formerly of Ashtabula, Ohio, passed away at home in Fountain Inn, S.C., on May 16, 2017.
Mike was a member of the Ashtabula Fire Department for many years until a heart condition forced him into retirement.
He was a devoted family man, a generous friend and a caring neighbor. If someone needed help or something needed repair he would be there before anyone could even ask.
Some of his greatest joys were sharing his love of nature, his many travels with his family, and his over-the-top Christmas decorations.
Mike leaves behind the love of his life, JoAnn, in South Carolina along with three daughters, Katherine (David) Donaldson of Williamsfield, Christine Clayman (Charles Thevenin) of Ashtabula, and Mandy (Russell) Cotham of Fountain Inn, as well as five grandchildren, Nathan and Pamela Donaldson, Amber Finley, and Jacob and Caleb Cotham. Mike was the son of (late) Frank R. and Barbara (Vettel) Clayman. Also surviving Mike is one brother, Frank P. (Sandy) Clayman; and two sisters, Colleen (Ken) Wheeler, and Diane (Tim) Armstrong.
A Memorial Celebrating Mike's Life was held in South Carolina on May 19, 2017, and a Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 3, 2017, at Our Lady of Peace - St. Joseph Parish in Ashtabula, at 10 a.m. with a brunch at Crow's Nest immediately following.
Our families send this thought out to Mike: "Goodbyes are not forever. Goodbyes are not the end. They simply mean we'll miss you until we meet again." All our love to you Mike!
