Raymond J. Allds, 98, of Center Rd. in Saybrook Township, died Monday evening at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
He was born April 9, 1918, in Conneaut, the son of Jay and Bessie (Snyder) Allds, and was a lifelong resident of Ashtabula County. Raymond worked at Ashtabula Bow Socket for 38 years and retired in 1975. He then went to work at Draco Manufacturing and Fenton Manufacturing during his retirement years.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, a member of Rising Sun Lodge #22 F. & A. M., Scottish Rite, Valley of Cleveland and was an Al Koran Shriner. Raymond was a talented musician and loved to play the guitar and bass.
Mr. Allds is survived by a daughter-in-law, Candace Allds of Ashtabula; two grandchildren, Marleen (Matthew) Thornton of Arnold, Md., and Sean (Domonique) Allds of Lyndhurst. He was also the great-grandfather to Addison, Delaney and Langdon Thornton; and Parker and Liana Allds.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth in 1996; a son, Dennis Allds in 1999; three brothers, Dick, Norman and Bill Allds; and a sister, Alice Amsden.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, April 8, 2017, at 11 a.m. in Edgewood Cemetery with the Rev. Glen Warner officiating. No calling hours will be observed.
