Ronald T. Arruda, age 64, W. Monroe Cir., Jefferson, died unexpectedly Thursday morning in the emergency room at the Ashtabula Co. Medical Center.
He was born April 18, 1953 in Providence, RI, the son of Tiofa & Mary (Mello) Arruda and has lived in Ashtabula Co. the past 18 years, living in Geneva for 10 years and in Jefferson the past eight years, coming from Cumberland, RI. Ronald was married to Joyce M. (Lamoureux) Jones on October 13, 1991 at St. Mary's Orthodox Church in Pawtucket, RI. Ronald was a 2012 retired pressman from the Lake Co. News Herald.
Mr. Arruda was a member and Past Master of Roger Williams Lodge #32 F. & A. M and was a former Scottish Rite and Knights Templar member. Ronald was a train enthusiast, from model trains to full size trains and an avid cigar smoker.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce, three children, Seth Arruda in Rhode Island, Jennifer (Phillip) Haskell of Jefferson & Robert Jones of Eastlake, nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and two sisters, Elaine Barone of Rhode Island & Maryann (Thomas) Mahoney in Pennsylvania. His parents, a daughter, Nicole Arruda and sister, Susan Terrien all preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 A. M. at the Jefferson Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson with Pastor Joseph Laing of Bethel Bible Church officiating. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday from 10-11 A. M. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the Bethel Bible Church, 877 E. Beech St., Jefferson, OH 44047.
