Thomas A. Cassidy, age 76, passed away at his home on Friday, March 17, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Cleveland on Nov. 10, 1940, the son of Arthur and Mary (Kershaw) Cassidy.
Thomas was married to Claudia (McGurer) Cassidy on Oct. 8, 1983. He was self-employed, the owner of Cassidy Tool, specializing in industrial sales. Thomas was also a printer working for Perlmuter in Cleveland for 25 years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, and politically active serving the Republican Party for the betterment of Ashtabula County. He loved his two dogs, enjoyed western movies, especially John Wayne. Thomas also had a passion for reading.
Survivors include his wife Claudia; children, Mindy, Janice and Alison Cassidy, Christine (John) Sheehan and Erin (Tusiime) Ndyajunwoha; brother John (Kathy) Cassidy; and seven step-siblings.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Memorial Service officiated by Rev. James Stanley will be held at the PAINE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 140 E. Main Street, Orwell, on Thursday, March 23, 2017, at 7:30 p.m., concluded with US Army Military Honors. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 6 to 7:15p.m. A private burial of his ashes will be held at the Brownville Cemetery, New Lyme Township, at a later date.
