Ashtabula, Ohio - Bud Ramkey, 69, of Saybrook Township, passed away February 5, 2026 at home, surrounded by his family. He was born September 30, 1956 in Cleveland, to the late Claude Jr. and Lila Ramkey.

Bud was a Conrail railroader, starting his craft with his dad in his youth and retiring in 2017 as an engineer. He was an avid gardener, planting and harvesting with his grandchildren. He was a traveler of the US, spending many days on the road with his wife in their motorhome. He was a man who could make friends with anyone he met. He had a great love of music and was a self-proclaimed weather man. He was a husband, dad, papa, and a great friend and mentor.

He's survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Susan Ramkey (nee: Bevis); children, Sara (Aaron) Omlor, Chad A. (Jackie) Ramkey, Samantha (Brandon) Shellko and Jake Ramkey; grandchildren, Logan, Eloise and Graham Omlor, Lola and Collins Ramkey, and Ryker and Freya Shellko; dog and favorite son, Beethoven; siblings, Beverly (Ray) Sweeny, Claudia Prescott, Laurel (Chuck) DuFour, Pamela (John) Batie and Sonya (Jim) Berger, and many nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends.

Preceding Bud in death are his sister, Jacqueline Smith and brother-in-law, Edwin Prescott.

Family and friends will be received from 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, Ohio 44060. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at Bethel Lutheran Church, 32410 Willowick Drive, Willowick, Ohio 44095. Please meet at the church.
