JEFFERSON, OHIO - Dale Canter, 64, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 3, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on July 8, 1961, Dale was a lifelong resident of Northeast Ohio and made his home in Jefferson, where he lived with and cared for his mother, Viola. He was a devoted family man whose greatest joy came from those he loved most. His life centered around his family, especially his two beloved granddaughters, Maddison and Taylor Canter of Monroe Township, who brought him immense pride and happiness. He was also deeply committed to supporting his mother and his Aunt Kitty, caring for them faithfully in ways both large and small.
Dale was previously married to Mary Hall and was a proud father to his son, Dale Jr. Though he endured great loss throughout his life, his love for his family remained constant and unwavering.
He dedicated 21 years of service as a Guest Service Leader at the Flying J Travel Center in Austinburg, Ohio. Dale also earned a degree in culinary arts from Ashland College, reflecting his appreciation for food, hospitality, and bringing people together.
Dale was preceded in death by his father, Carl Herbert Canter; his son, Dale Jr.; his daughter-in-law, Keri; and his sister, Sharon McCloud.
He is survived by his two granddaughters, Maddison and Taylor Canter of Monroe Township; his siblings, Carl Canter (Jan) of North Lima, Ohio, Shirley Balcomb Miller of Ashtabula, Jesse Canter of Conneaut, Cindy Canter of Ashtabula, and Todd Canter of White Hall, Maryland; as well as many nieces and nephews, and his extended family, including three aunts, one uncle, and dozens of cousins with whom he shared close and meaningful relationships.
Dale will be remembered for his sunny disposition, his warm smile, and the deep love he had for his family.
Services will be held on Friday, April 10, at 11:00 AM at Kelloggsville Church of the Nazarene, 4841 Bushnell Road, Conneaut, Ohio. A burial service will follow at Kelloggsville Cemetery in Monroe Township.
Family and friends are invited to return to the church fellowship hall following the burial for a reception where a meal will be served.
