Deborah A Drew Obituary

Deborah Ann Drew, 68 years young, entered our Heavenly Father's kingdom on January 25, 2025, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family who loved and cared for her dearly.

Deborah, whom was best known as mom, nana, grandma and Aunt Debbie, was born January 10, 1957 at Ashtabula General Hospital. She was born the third of six children, daughter of Lois and Edward Detrick. Debbie was raised in the countryside of Kelloggsville, where she learned to homestead beside her mother and she'd walk to church every Sunday. She was a woman of Christ, strong in her faith which she instilled in her family. In her early years, she found joy in visiting grandparents, aunts, uncles and often was found playing alongside the creek, enjoying picnics. Debbie was a graduate of Edgewood Senior High School, Class of 1975. She would be seen waitressing at her parent's chain restaurant, Dog n' Suds.

In the year of 1980, Debbie married her lifelong partner, Lance Drew. The two shared 45 years of love and commitment to one another. Lance assisted Debbie in learning to play a right-handed bass guitar as a left-handed player. Her strong will and discipline to learn an instrument became apparent once she began performing in their band, known as "The Looking Good Band". Debbie and Lance also operated their successful paving business together, D & D Paving Company, for 30 years. She assisted her husband in managing their son's band, Pulse, which became a local sensation in the early 2000's. They often frequented Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia as Debbie was a history enthusiast. Debbie was always thirsty for knowledge and would often share her wisdom from life experiences with her family. Debbie took most pride in raising her three children, Cherry, Melanie and little Lance, all of whom she adored.

Deborah was best known for her sense of style, class, and had an eye for fashion. She was soft spoken with a voice that mimics a transatlantic accent and had a contagious smile. Debbie had radiant blue eyes and a laugh that felt tender like a hug. She was a daddy's girl, enjoyed watching classic tearjerker films, and cared for her beloved Shih Tzu, Puppy, for 20 years. Debbie's family found comfort in listening to her reminisce about her childhood and to learn of their family tree. She loved her grandchildren as her own and was determined to create memorable, magical Christmases each year. A family favorite being Christmas of 2006, where the entire family went to Disney World.

In her later years, Debbie was diagnosed with stage four small cell carcinoma, which she strongly battled since 2020. Her body may have succumbed to her illness, but never her heart or spirit. When reflecting on the success life brought her, Debbie stated, "Your 30's are the best years, actually no part of my life was ever bad." In Debbie's last days, she shared a memory from her younger years when she fell ill enough to miss Sunday school. Her Sunday school teacher came to her home, prayed with her and Debbie stated, "I want Jesus to heal me already so I can go to church." Her Sunday school teacher assured her that Jesus would heal her well in time to return and if not, her teacher would be back again to visit. The next Sunday, with excitement, Debbie made it to church, found her teacher and stated, "Look, look, Jesus healed me!" May Deborah continue on in our memory and in paradise, celebrating and healed.

She is reunited in Heaven with our Lord, her parents Lois and Edward Detrick, nephews Jason Detrick and Aaron Drew, sister-in-law Sharon Drew, brother-in-law Dale Drew, Rick Drew and Gary Drew.

She is survived by her husband Lance Drew, siblings Diane Fultz, Gene Detrick, Greg (Patti) Detrick, Doreen (Paul) Callaghan, and Gary (Sherry) Detrick, children Cherry Houser, Melanie (Michael) Yilit, and Lance Drew, grandchildren Cody Houser, Courtney Coe, Bobby Houser, Paige Houser, Makayla Coe, Gavin and Brennan Drew, and her seven great grandchildren.
