Jacksonville, FL - Dr. Virginia J. Swartz, DSW, died September 22, 2024. She was preceded in death by her mother, Rosemary Lowler Swartz Armstrong; her father, Calvin Swartz; her stepfather, Harold Armstrong; and her bother Lawrence Swartz of her hometown, Conneaut, Ohio.
She is survived by her spouse, Dr. Mary K. Robinson, M.D.; Mary's sons Christopher (Danielle) and Donald (Caroline); her brother, William Swartz (Meribeth); and nieces Katherine Sorensen (Kyle), Elizabeth Neff (Ryan), and Abigail Swartz (Davis). She is also survived by Veronica Medina, and Veronica's children, Alexis Vilcapoma, Rachel Dill (Christopher), and Michelline Fedele (David), a great-niece and nephew, and several grandchildren.
Dr. Swartz sustained a long and productive career with the faculty of the University of Florida Family Medicine residency where she was director of behavioral science. In that role she served the people of Jacksonville by helping train Family Practice physicians who brought needed primary care to underserved communities. She was a licensed clinical therapist giving psychological counselling to countless individuals and families. She also served her country as a United States Naval Reserve officer.
A Celebration of Life will be at 11a.m., Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the Marcy Funeral Home, 208 Liberty St., with calling hours at 10a.m. until the time of the service.
Inurnment will follow in Glenwood Cemetery with a reception at Marcy Family Center.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to honor Ginny may be made to the Ashtabula County YMCA Youth Boating Program, the Ashtabula County Animal Protective League, or the Conneaut Hospital Thrift Shop. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
