Pierpont, Ohio - Gail Harrington Brockett of Pierpont passed away on January 15, 2026, at her winter home in Zephyrhills, Florida. Born July 3, 1943, she was the daughter of Edward and Eunice (Humphrey) Harrington.

Gail attended Saybrook Elementary, Ashtabula High School, and Ohio State University for her undergraduate and Masters of Arts and Language Pathology. She worked as a speech therapist for 32 years, primarily in the Ashtabula County school system.

During her early years, she was a member of many service, horse, and 4-H clubs, and served on the Ashtabula County Junior Fair Board. She was active in the Saybrook Methodist and Pierpont Presbyterian Churches, serving in teaching and outreach positions. She also shared her love of music by singing in choirs and as a soloist, and leading Kidz Tunz and Vacation Bible School music programs.

Gail married Roger Brockett on May 22, 1982, and moved to Pierpont. They traveled across the US and to several foreign countries, and serviced on mission trips to the Dominican Republic. For over 25 years, the couple owned, bred, and trained horses that competed in harness racing in both Ohio and Florida.

Gail is survived by her husband, Roger; her daughter, Susan (Loren) Taple of St. Paul, MN; sons, Scott Brockett of Lancaster, SC, and Kevin (Kim) Brockett of Charlotte, NC; two sisters, Dian (William) Schriver of Albion, NE, and Rita Locke of Westerville, OH; along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, James Harrington.

Gail lived her life following her mother's motto: "Leave every place and every person better than you found them." It was her custom to help others, and to reach out to strangers with friendly greetings or compliments, which always made them smile.

Her Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 20, at the Pierpont Presbyterian Church on Route 7. A gathering of friends and family begins at 10:00am, followed by a service at 11:00 am, and a luncheon immediately following for all attendees. A brief service will also be held after lunch at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, 3140 E. Center Street, North Kingsville.
